If you are a business owner looking to improve your ranking on Google, then you have probably wondered how exactly Google ranks your site as well as competing sites. Well, we have good news for you. For the first time, ever, Google has revealed their list of ranking factors to the general public.
Last year it was made public that RankBrain was one of Google’s ranking factors – the third most important ranking factor to be exact. However, Google refused to let the public know what the first two were.
In an unexpected turn of events, Andrey Lipattsev, a Search Quality Senior Strategist at Google revealed the other two ranking factors at a recent Q&A.
Lipattsev stated that the other two ranking factors were links and content:
Even though Lipattsev refused to say which of these two ranking factors are more important, the fact that Google chose to reveal them is already a major win for SEO specialists and website owners alike. At the moment, the ranking list looks as follows:
1 & 2 – Links & Content
3 – RankBrain
As we know, Google takes many other ranking factors into consideration. Links, Content, and RankBrain are all made up of many various subfactors. Nonetheless, knowing the top three is an enormous advantage when it comes to SEO. So, if you are a website owner then it is time to get working on these three factors or to find a successful online marketing agency to do it for you.
